Speaking of CDS...

Braxton, sophomore
Sophie, senior
Andre, senior

It’s my first year. It’s a pretty fun school and  also very hard. It challenges you, the teachers push you to make sure you do what you’re supposed to do. They’re hard on you, but it will pay off in the long run. We have an honor code and I’m a strong believer in the honor code because I don’t have to worry about leaving my books or my iPod lying around. I know they’ll be there when I return. It was easy being a new student here. Everyone gets along. Kids have helped me adjust including the upper classmen. The work load is a lot harder coming from a public school to a private school.

I’ve been here since sixth grade. I think the upper school helped me manage my time a lot better. In the Middle School things are more structured, you don’t have any free time. In the Upper School you have some free periods so it was good to learn to manage my time. You’re expected to do more work in the Upper School so the free periods help. It’s always exciting when someone new visits the school because you get to show off your school and you feel really proud of it. You can show them all the things Carolina Day offers like the art program. I think it’s great how the teachers are almost always available during your free periods and you can ask them for help or even just hang around with them and talk. It’s comforting to know that if you feel completely lost in a subject you can always get help.

This is my third year at Carolina Day. I’m a junior now. I’ve been involved with theatrical arts, cross country, and the debate team. I’ve won a medal at the state level tournament in debate last year. I’m involved with the literary magazine which contains various arts and writings from students at the school. This year we won third place best literary magazine for the state. My favorite thing about CDS, well, there are a lot of things…I like it here. I feel it’s the best school in the area. I feel an allegiance to the school I didn’t feel at my other schools. I have more school spirit here than I did at my other schools. I like the casual atmosphere of CDS. The teachers are very cordial, they’re friendly. The faculty office is an infamous hub of mine. I like to hang out in there. We have really good qualified teachers.
