As always, it has been a busy week at Carolina Day.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

The Key School presented an amazing show of performances last night for the parents. This morning, parts of the show were presented to lower school students. Click to see photos from today's show.

Cowboys and cowgirls were all over the place as the pre-kindergarten classes celebrated "Cowboy Day" last week. They rode horses, sang cowboy songs, ate cowboy victuals, and rounded up some cattle. Okay, the cattle thing might be getting carried away. But they did find themselves featured on the WLOS Channel 13 "Never Stop Learning" segment on Tuesday.

Arts Alive! week continued right up until the last school hours on Friday. These upper school art students were working with re-art artist Jeff Menzer in building a decorative fence and archway out of recycled materials.

The UNCA Jazz Band was on campus last Friday as part of Arts Alive! week. They provided lunchtime entertainment for the entire student body.

These lower school students felt moved by the jazz and just had to dance!

A change of leadership. Adam Trufant, upper school student body president, and Mason Walters, vice-president, sing a song for the student body as part of their farewell duties as leaders of the Upper School. After a very warm reception, they passed the gavel to the new leaders-Clayton Armstrong, president, and Taylor Milner, vice-president.

Clayton and Taylor's first duty was to offer appreciation to the outgoing student leaders. They then dismissed the seniors as their second official act.

The sixth graders and their first-grade buddies got together to celebrate "Earth Day." After finishing a couple of activities, they got to munch down on some Popsicles.

Growing up. Anne Raybon of Kids Voting was on campus yesterday to register eligible upper school students to vote. Twenty-two students joined the ranks of registered voters.

The Student Council sponsored a Red Cross blood drive on Monday. Chase Pickering and Lauren Richardson take their turn checking in donors.

Upper school teacher David Fortney is all smiles after donating a pint to this important cause.

And newly-elected student council president Clayton Armstrong shows his leadership by being one of 18 students who donated blood. In all, the Red Cross collected 34 pints.

The Senior Prom was held this past Saturday at Biltmore Inn. While the event wasn't necessarily meant to be a fashion show, students did turn out in their finest. Junior Doug Manofsky shows off his formal jacket made entirely of duct tape. And I'm not kidding! The cummerbund, bow tie, and buttons were also fashioned from duct tape.

Juniors Taylor Milner and Charlene Fidelia could certainly be models. Charlene proudly wears a gown handmade by her grandmother when she was 16 years old for her own prom many years ago.

The comments about this rabbit keep piling up. Don't you love him? or her? It IS a real rabbit!
