As always, it has been a busy week at Carolina Day.
Here's just a sampling of some of what you might have missed.

Junior Bennett Willis made an animated appeal to upper school students during a recent morning meeting to encourage her classmates to donate a pint of blood. The Upper School Student Council is sponsoring a Red Cross drive this coming Monday. Students age 17 and older are eligible to give, and Bennett celebrated her 17th birthday this fall by giving for her first time. She's challenging other students to follow her example. Parents and teachers and staff are encouraged to donate.

Arts Alive! is underway at Carolina Day. Exciting activities have been happening every single day. A "Showcase of Talent" was a Monday highlight with student, faculty, and parent performances in two separate sessions. Check out the photos here.

Recyle artist Jeff Menzer has been on campus all week as an artist-in-residence. By Friday, he will have worked with virtually every student in all divisions. The lower school students built a "Willie the Wildcat" sculpture out of recycled materials.

On Tuesday, upper school teacher Joel Underwood led a singer/songwriter workshop for middle and upper school students. He was joined by special guests Kimberly Summer and David LaMotte.

On Wednesday, master puppeteer Hobey Ford was on campus to present his "Animalia" show to the lower and middle schools. The show was an audience thriller.

The Middle & Upper School Spring Concert was held on Tuesday evening with a variety of talent from over a hundred performers.

Arts Alive! has more to come. The UNCA Jazz Band will be on campus tomorrow in the lower school courtyard playing between 11:15 A.M. and 1 P.M. All students will be enjoying their lunchtime with the music.

And it's still not over. The Key School has a performance night coming up on Wednesday, April 26 beginning at 6:30 P.M. in the lower gym. All Key School students will be performing.

The Upper School Speech & Debate team hosts their annual Awards & Performance Night on Wednesday, April 26 beginning at 7 P.M. in the upper school auditorium.

Thanks to Carol Keenan and the Arts & Creativity Committee for all of the planning and hard work to make this great event happen.

Staff member Diane Henson rounded up some CDS students and headed over to Wal-Mart this past Saturday to raise money for Alzheimer's research. Kaitlin and Zac Lunsford from the Middle School and Natalie Rose, Elizabeth Payton, and Rebecca Freeman from the Upper School worked hard to raise $527. Diane and fellow business office staff member Doris Hardin are still raising money and will be involved in the Memory Walk coming up in June.

Lending a hand. Spotted today were Robert and Aaron Saenger helping the alumni office with some mailing chores. No need to worry. It was during one of their free periods.

I had so many positive comments about this rabbit picture that I HAD to run it again. This is a real rabbit, by the way!
