Lady Cats Fall to Southlake Christian in NCISAA Soccer

Monday, May 12th, 2008

The Lady Cats hit the road on Saturday as they faced Southlake Christian in the first round of the NCISAA soccer championships. The Cats earned the 12th seed in this years tourney while Southlake was awarded the #5 seed.

The Cats headed down the mountain to see what they could see on Saturday. What they first saw and felt was the heat - a big difference from the cool mountains of WNC.

The whistle blew at 1p and at 1:02 pm the Cats were behind by a score of 1-0. Southlake’s forwards are exceptionally strong and fast and the Cats found out quickly why Southlake had a record of 19-0-1.

The Cats regrouped and from that point on played an exceptional match. Back and forth the action went … Cats score, Southlake scores, Cats score, Southlake scores.

The final whistle blew and while the Cats fell by a score of 3-2, we once again played a match that was representative of our community.

We are so proud of this team and look forward to the future.
Go, Cats!

Cats Face Southlake Christian in NCISAA Soccer Tourney

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

As reported last night, the Lady Cats received the #12 seed in this year’s NCISAA 2A Soccer Championship. The Lady Cats will face the #5 seed Southlake Christian on Saturday at 1pm in Charlotte.

The Lady Cats, led by CAA conference player of the year Melissa Garrett, have played well as of late. The team suffered some early injuries to key players which impacted their success in the first part of the season. Those injured players are back on the pitch and the Lady Cats appear to be peaking at the right time.

Go, Cats, Go!

Yes, we can.

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

The Cats received the #12 seed this afternoon for the 2008 NCISAA 2A Women’s Soccer Championships. The Cats have fought hard all year long - we’ve been knocked down, we’ve been written off. Can we? Yes, we can.

More details to follow tomorrow morning! Go, Cats!

Seniors Finish Strong

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Senior Cat athletes involved in baseball, soccer, and tennis were recognized yesterday during our contests with the visiting Blues of Asheville School. Seniors on the above three teams have led their teams to state championships, earned all-state and all-conference accolades and have been instrumental in mentoring their younger counterparts. Perhaps the most important quality left behind from this group has been their commitment to the Carolina Day School community.

Seniors, thanks for all of your hard work and dedication.

Here are the scores from yesterdays’ action:

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cats 3      Blues 1

Varsity Baseball:        Cats 2      Blues 4

Varsity Tennis:           Cats 6      Blues 3

Senior Day

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

A very special day for our senior  student-athletes as we celebrate their accomplishments not only for this season but for all they have given this community. We’ll recognize these special folks at our games v. Asheville School this afternoon beginning at 500p.

A heart-felt thank-you from the CDS athletic department.

Griffins Drop Cats in Soccer

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

The Cats dropped two soccer matches yesterday at Spartanburg Day School.

In ms action, the Cats lost 1-0 in a well played match. This was the last game for the Lady Cats for the 08 season. They finish the season with this tough loss, but the quailty of soccer played improved all year. We all look forward to watching this team as they suit-up next year. Thanks for all of your hard work.

On the varsity side, the Cats rode a wave of emotion into their match-up with the Griffins. On Tuesday night, the Lady Cats played a super exciting match, ending in a 3-3,  against one of the toughest public school teams in the area.

Exhausted, the Lady Cats got on the bus, laced them up again, and played as hard as they could. The Lady Cats played well in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the break. The Lady Cats hit the wall in the second half - a no legged Cat has very little chance against a flying griffin. Griffins score 4 solid goals in the second half and post the 4-3 CAA victory.
