JH Field Hockey Battles to Tie

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

The Lady Cats looked impressive in their 1-1 tie v. a very strong and talented Asheville High team yesterday afternoon. The Lady Cats, led by a number of “young guns”, had a number of very solid defensive stands ,and coupled with their offensive attack, kept the Cougars on their heels all afternoon. The Cats record now stands at 0-0-1 as they prepare for next weeks match v. Christ Church.

Down the Mountain

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Big day for Cat athletics as a number of teams head “down the mountain” to face Rabun Gap in important CAA contests:

The Varsity Soccer team (1-1,1-3) will see a very strong Eagles team this afternoon. The Eagles enter today’s match with a perfect record of 4 wins and 0 losses. The Cats are coming off a disappointing loss to cross-town rivals Asheville Christian Academy on Tuesday of this week and look to show marked improvement this afternoon. Containment of Rabun’s front line will imperative.

The Varsity Volleyball team (0-1, 0-2 ) will face a much improved Rabun team from last year and today’s match should be a good one. The Lady Cats were defeated by defending NCISAA 2A state champion on Tuesday of this week, but if there’s such a thing as a “good loss”, that was it. The Lady Cats are talented, well-coached, and continue to improve each and every point played. The Eagles are 2-3 this year and have yet to face any CAA opponents.

Our JV volleyball team (0-2), in many ways mirrors our varsity team - we’re getting better each and every day. Today’s match against the Eagles (3-0) should be one that allows us to measure our progress to date.

Best of success to all teams this afternoon and for more information about Rabun Gap, please visit www.rabungap.org.
