Leadership Project Post #1

The first captains meeting was held yesterday afternoon in the Nash Athletic Center. The meeting, attended by captains from all of our teams focused on the importance of captain leadership in all aspects. Over lunch provided by the athletic department, the group shared their stories, worked on leadership strategies, and discussed the importance of peer and coach evaluations. The group will meet weekly thoughout the year.

Leadership Project Post #2

The CDS Leadership Project met Tuesday, September 25, at 1230 pm in the Nash Athletic Center. During this meeting, the group revisited an earlier conversation regarding “Green Lights, Yellow Lights, and Red Light” - the traffic signal of athletic emotions if you will. The captains reported how this had positively impacted not only their game experiences but also their practice experiences. Many examples were given of when they (the captains) felt like they were slipping from “green” to “yellow” and how/if they were able to recover.

Leadership Project Post #3

October 2 - The Leadership Group met at lunch to discuss some of the challenges they face as captains. We found there were many common denominators regardless of level of play. The group discussed conflict and the need to address issues with respect. The group then “role played” confrontational situations and discussed inappropriate and appropriate responses.

The group will meet again on Tuesday, October 23, at 1230pm in the Nash Athletic Center.
