Financial Aid

Application

All families wishing to apply for financial aid must complete the Parents' Financial Statement form provided by the School and Student Service (SSS) Division of the Educational Testing Service (ETS). These forms are available from the business and admissions offices. To be eligible for the first round of grants, applications must be submitted to SSS by the published date in early February and a copy given to the business office (along with a copy of the applicant's income tax return).

Additional information and all forms can be downloaded below. Deadline for the 2008-2009 year is February 9, 2008.

Applications may be submitted for consideration after the due date, and aid will be granted to those eligible if unallocated money is still available.

New families may request and submit an application for financial aid prior to enrolling their child(ren). However, no allocation of financial aid will be made until the admissions and enrollment process is completed. If parents of enrolled students find that the financial aid grant does not meet their need and choose to withdraw their child(ren), the enrollment deposit will be returned. Once financial aid has been offered and accepted, the enrollment contract is binding and the enrollment deposit becomes non-refundable. If circumstances warrant, the enrollment deposit may be waived at the discretion of the Financial Aid Allocations Committee.

In the case of a family where the parents are divorced or separated, every effort must be made to include the resources of the non-custodial parent in the determination of eligibility for financial aid.

Financial Aid Allocations

The Financial Aid Allocations Committee will review SSS recommendations for each applicant and make aid grants based on demonstrated financial need. Carolina Day School does not offer merit-based scholarships.

The School expects parents to place a high priority on their child's education and to contribute to the School to the extent that they are able.

Priority in the granting of funds shall be given in the following order to:

  • children of faculty

  • returning students

  • siblings of returning students

  • other new students

The School will give consideration to current families who face short-term financial set-backs (one-two years).
